what a session looks like

We will start by getting you comfortable with therapy, and that will take time. Know that it is normal to feel anxious during your first time and know that this will dissipate. There is an array of tools utilized to fit the clients individualized needs, and we will not necessarily know until we meet with you what that will look like. Sessions will include a customized wellness protocol tailored to your healing journey, collaboration throughout the process on what goals you are wanting to accomplish, and any healing tool that are a good fit for your specific needs. Some therapeutic frameworks that could be used are:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - encourages mindfulness as we work through unpleasant thoughts, feelings, and attitudes. The focus of ACT is to accept all emotions/thoughts/experiences, while staying present until they pass, and then making informed choices from clarity. Individuals who struggle with anxiety, social anxiety, stress, and depression benefit from this approach.

  • Energy Psychology - encompasses a variety of tools that view the person from a mind-body-spirit lens, these help treat trauma, anxiety, self-sabotage, and many other psychophysiological issues.

  • Existential Therapy - views your challenge from a holistic lens, and integrates philosophy + meaning into your life.

  • Humanistic Therapy - helps you honor your true self to living a more authentic + wholesome life. This helps those feel empowered and supported in their unique perspective.

  • Yoga Therapy - integration of mind, body, spirit into therapy with meditation as a fundamental for change. This has been known to help treat an array of issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD.

  • Interpersonal Therapy - focuses on you in your relationships in a way to treat depression. It’s premise is that relationships are the key to treating mental health.

  • Process-oriented psychotherapy - derived from Jungian Psychology, physics, and information processing. Awareness, consistency, and processing information are key to bettering ourselves by being willing to process difficult emotions, thoughts, and experiences to create a more wholesome life.

  • Psychodynamic/Attachment theory - creating a space for you to process your early childhood relationships and how they impact your current life. Great for individuals wanting to work on co-dependency dynamics, difficult relationship patterns, difficulty with family or origin/ancestral trauma.

  • Transpersonal Psychology - the integration of the transcendent/spiritual aspects of the individual within the psychology framework. Great for individuals wanting to deepen their self-development + learn about who they are, why they are here, and how they can live more fulfilling and meaningful lives.

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapies - utilization of meditation and mindfulness into daily living, includes journaling, yoga/meditation exercises, daily life practices and living from a place of nonjudgmental + acceptance. Great for those with anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD/ADHD.

  • Art Therapy- utilization of art to release and heal emotional or mental blockages. Integrating art into therapy to help anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD/ADHD.

You are the captain of this ship, and whatever you are feeling is the highest good for you, we will always honor. I will honor whatever choices you make, while guiding you with what I believe will be the best fit for your given circumstance.

insurance

Aetna, United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar & Cigna

When using insurance some things to know; Check your deductible for mental health services. If you haven’t reached your deductible you will be paying out of pocket until you do.

-I have to submit a diagnosis code to the insurance company so that they cover your therapy, which stays on your medical record forever.

-Insurance companies sometimes ask for audit’s on a client file including progress notes/treatment plans

-Understanding by choosing insurance you are accepting these terms of use.

Out of Network Benefits:

Both Dr. Kim and Alexis can provide a super bill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential compensation, if you have out-of-network benefits. This will require you to still pay for the full session at the time of service, and I will provide you will receipts to potentially receive reimbursement from your insurance company. You will have to call your insurance and set this up on your end.

Psychology Associates cannot accept insurance, that is one of the reasons their fee is significantly lower

how you’ll benefit + expectations

You will learn all about who you are, the process of healing emotional & mental patterning/blockages, healing trauma, healing relationship codependency dynamics, healing ancestral trauma, you will learn how to connect with the Divine within yourself, and connect to compassion & empathy for others. You will learn to connect to nature and heal on the deepest level possible. You will be given tailored healing tools that will be customized so that you can do this work beyond the time we work together. You will only receive the most from therapy, with what you put into it. As much as I would love to have a magic wand to heal all your past, that is not possible. Our time together is important, but more important is the time you take after our sessions to apply the tools you are given. The purpose is for you to learn how to self-heal, and you will receive so much more than that if you put in the work.
