Alexis Knowles, MA, RMHI

Alexis Knowles, Ma, RHMcI

I am currently a RMHCI (Registered Mental Health Intern) with the state of Florida and graduated with my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Central Florida, where I received training and education on a variety of mental health disorders and interventions. I am passionate about helping individuals of all ages to work through life transitions, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, ADHD, emotional and behavioral difficulties, and more. I work with couples and families to improve communication, further understand roles and dynamics, and foster deeper connections.

My approach to therapy is an integrated-holistic approach, that incorporates the whole perspective of the individual. I enjoy utilizing a broad range of theoretical orientation, but my overall style can be described as warm, compassion-centered and strength-based. Some theories that I utilize are, Attachment-Oriented, Cognitive-Behavioral, Existential and Spiritual, Systems theory, Trauma Informed, Humanistic, Gottman’s Theory, and Art Therapy.

I have always been driven to help others and aim to ensure individuals feel safe, comfortable, respected, and accepted. I have always received positive feedback for being able to build solid rapport and creating an authentic therapeutic relationship with my clients (and their families). I tailor my work to each client and to meet the individual’s needs by meeting every client where they are currently at. My goal in my approach and services is to assist my clients in meeting their goals and guide them through their journey, while providing them with useful tools to create a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I have a deep faith in the capacity of individuals to heal and grow, no matter what circumstance is thrown their way.

One of my passions is incorporating Art Therapy into the therapeutic relationship, to help heal emotional and mental roadblocks that keep us stuck. Art Therapy I find to be a helpful theoretical orientation for a range of symptom presentations including, but not limited to, trauma, anxiety, depression, etc. Reach out to schedule a 15-minute consultation to understand my approach in therapy!

What’s a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern?

These are individuals with their Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling, and are pre-licensed and receiving direct supervision from Dr. Kimberly Carnall. RMHCI have an extensive amount of training and are continuing their supervision to be fully licensed in the state of Florida.

Why work with a RHMCI?

Not only do you get a well trained clinician, you get Dr. Kimberly Carnall’s direct supervision of that clinician. It is like having multiple experts working towards your goals in a collaborative way. Plus, their rates are significantly lower then the average clinician. It’s a win- win for everyone!
